A Green Bay man is out of a job after he reportedly was drinking beer while taking students on a field trip.
The man, whose name has not been released, was a bus driver for Lamers.
The incident occurred on April 8th, when 4th and 5th-grade students from Lincoln Elementary School were on a trip to Madison.
While they were on their way back, a student noticed an empty can of beer under the driver’s seat.
The teachers on the bus reached out to the School District, who then contacted the bus company.
They admitted that it was possible the can was there prior to the trip.
The teachers on the bus said they couldn’t smell alcohol on the driver’s breath, so the Green Bay Police Department was called in to investigate.
The driver admitted to drinking the beer while the students were involved in their activities, and he was fired.
Lamers has issued a statement saying that they are “committed to a safe, drug and alcohol-free workplace,” and that they have “a zero-tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol.”
