
The Herb Kohl Foundation has announced the recipients of their 2022 awards for Wisconsin students, teachers and principals. Several area students and educators were included among the winners.
Awards of $6,000 are being made to 100 teachers, 17 principals and their schools, as well as $10,000 scholarships that are being awarded to 174 graduating high school seniors.
2022 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Excellence Scholars in our area include:
- Lia Haile of Manitowoc Lincoln High School;
- Madeline Oswald of Manitowoc Lincoln High School.
- Emma Holsen of Roncalli Catholic High School;
- Emma Baierl of Howards Grove High School.
The foundation’s list of 2022 Teacher Fellows includes Melanie Shimek of Lincoln High School. Mrs. Shimek teaches Business Education at Lincoln.
Since 1990, the Kohl foundation has awarded more than $28 million to Wisconsin educators, principals, students and schools, impacting more than 8,600 people and 3,200 schools.
