The City of Sheboygan has purchased a sizable plot of land in the neighboring Town of Wilson.
It is being reported that the price tag on the sale was $3.67 million.
The land is located east of Moenning Road, near Creekview Court, and will be used to create more housing.
The City has stated that they plan to turn that land, plus an adjacent 73 acres, into a residential development filled with a mix of starter homes, single-family condos, duplexes, and some larger homes.
This was the first major step taken to address the housing shortage in the City after a study showed that they needed to create 1,000 single-family housing units in the near future.
The City has also stated that they will be paying off the land in installments over the next five years, and hope to do so without any borrowing.
