Green Bay Preble jumped on top early and held off a late Manitowoc Lincoln rally to top the Ships 5-3 in the FRCC boys baseball home opener at Municipal Field.
The visiting Hornets, now 4-0 in conference, benefited from a pair of errors in the first inning to grab a 3-0 lead.
They would add two more unearned runs in the 4th before the Ships (1-1) started their comeback with single tallies in the 5th, 6th, and 7th.
Preble was able to wriggle out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the bottom of the 7th to preserve the victory.
Ashton Portmann and Noah Wech had 2 hits apiece in a losing effort.
