Next week is National Volunteer Week, and the HSHS Hospital System will be honoring its volunteers.
In 2021, HSHS had 225 volunteers dedicated 24,494 hours at St. Vincent and St. Mary’s in Green Bay, St. Nicholas in Sheboygan, and St. Clare in Oconto Falls, with a majority of those hours occurring at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Volunteer efforts include patient screening, wayfinding, working in the hospital gift shops, filing, sewing pillows for heart patients, and knitting prayer shawls and chemo caps for patients.
Mary Ann Brunette, Volunteer Services Manager for HSHS hospitals in Eastern Wisconsin voiced her appreciation for these volunteers, saying they “bring joy to our patients and to all of us daily!”
