The Brewers edged Baltimore 5-4 Tuesday night with some clutch relief work from Devin Williams and Josh Hader.
Williams caused his own problems by loading the bases with nobody out and his team clinging to a one-run lead.
He responded by striking out three straight batters.
Then, Hader gave up a leadoff double in the bottom of the ninth but kept the Orioles off the scoreboard for his second save.
Andrew McCutchen drove in three runs for the Brewers.
Cedric Mullins had a grand slam home run for the home team.
Corbin Burnes starts the rubber game of the series Wednesday with coverage on 107.9 AM WOMT at 5:30 p.m.
