With only a single vote separating the candidates for Sheboygan’s 10th Aldermanic District, a recount is on its way.
The vote totals favored challenger Joseph Heidemann, who beat incumbent Andre Walton 403-402.
Under state law, if a race is decided by 40 votes or less among a 4,000-vote total, a recount is allowed, with the state paying for it.
The Board of Canvassers will be conducting that recount this morning starting at 9:00 a.m.
Walton was the only incumbent on the City Council to lose his seat on Tuesday, while three County Board members were ousted, and two remained in place.
