Residents of Kiel are being warned of a scam that has hit their city.
A citizen recently reported to the Kiel Police Department that someone called them claiming to be a contractor with Kiel Utilities.
The caller offered the resident 40% off of their utility bill if they signed up for a new program.
The scammer then asked for a payment method, specifically for a credit card number, saying they would reimburse them the money they would save.
The resident did not fall for the scam, but others may not be so lucky.
The Police Department is reminding everyone not to give out their personal or account information to anyone unless you can confirm their identity.
If a Kiel resident were to have any questions about their utility bill, they can either stop into City Hall, or give them a call at 920-894-2909.
