A Thursday afternoon chlorine leak at a plant in Fond du Lac forced homes in an area of eight-to-10 square blocks to be evacuated.
No injuries were reported.
Fond du Lac fire crews were called to Milk Specialties just after 11:30 a.m.
Fire Chief Peter O’Leary gives credit to his firefighters and plant employees for “safely bringing this incident to an end.”
Officials are still investigating what caused the leak.
At one point there was a big, yellow plume above the plant.
The nearby residents were forced to stay away for several hours, but they were eventually allowed to return home.
