A 17-year-old boy is recovering in a hospital after he was shot by Wauwatosa police Tuesday night.
The boy was in a car that had been reported stolen.
When he got out of the parked car police say he was holding a handgun and didn’t obey their commands.
His name hasn’t been released.
It turns out the car belonged to his family but authorities hadn’t been told that it had been recovered.
The incident was recorded on body cameras and dash cameras in squad cars.
Milwaukee police are conducting the investigation to avoid a conflict of interest.
