The Brewers backed a strong start by Adrian Houser by building a four-run lead on the way to Tuesday’s 5-4 win over the Kansas City Royals.
Houser threw six shutout innings allowing just two hits and no walks.
Brent Diaz had a second-inning home run.
Kansas City scored four times in the eighth inning to tie, but Terence Doston knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.
Milwaukee wrapped up its Cactus League season with a 7-9 record.
Now, manager Craig Counsell’s team will open the regular season Thursday in Chicago against the Cubs.
Milwaukee takes today off, then Corbin Burnes will start the season opener at Wrigley Field Thursday afternoon.
