Production at the Vollrath Company in Sheboygan came to a stop yesterday as workers began a union strike.
The members of Local 1472 began picketing yesterday after the union and Vollrath failed to agree on a new labor contract, which expired on Friday.
It is being reported that a contract proposal from Vollrath was rejected by nearly 75% of the union members, leading to the work stoppage.
The company says it’s willing to negotiate a contract that works well for both the workers and the company.
The Vollrath Company specializes in design, engineering, and manufacturing for food service and custom and specialty products.
