Three Manitowoc residents had to be removed from the wreckage of a rollover crash in Sheboygan County by Jaws of Life yesterday afternoon.
Lieutenant James Gottsacker of the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office said a preliminary investigation shows a vehicle driven by a 24-year old Manitowoc man was traveling south on I-43 in the Town of Sheboygan just before 3:00 p.m. when it suddenly crossed over the median, rolled and landed on the east shoulder of the northbound lanes of the interstate.
The driver, along with his passengers, a 15-year old boy and a 39-year old woman both from Manitowoc had to be extricated at the crash scene.
The 24-year old driver was transported with life-threatening injuries via Flight for Life air ambulance to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.
His two passengers needed transport by Orange Cross Ambulance to Aurora Sheboygan with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash caused the closure of I-43 north for about 3-hours until reopening early last evening.
The accident remains under investigation.
