A pickup truck parked in the middle of the road led to a drug arrest in Manitowoc on Thursday morning.
Authorities received calls about the truck having been parked in the area of Franklin St. and S. 17th St. for several hours. When Manitowoc Police approached the vehicle, an officer noticed that a man was sleeping in the driver’s seat.
While the car was stopped, the transmission was in the drive position until the officer reached into the car and shifted it into park.
The suspect was awoken, though still very disoriented, as officers quickly noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the truck. The police report also notes that a marijuana joint was seen and confiscated.
A more thorough search of the vehicle found a blue smoking device, often used to smoke marijuana, as well as a baggie of marijuana. Officers also found 0.6 grams of cocaine and a smoking device in the suspect’s pocket.
The suspect was booked into the Manitowoc County Jail for possession of 0.6 grams of cocaine, possession of 2.3 grams of THC, possession of two pieces of drug paraphernalia as well as multiple counts of felony bail jumping.
He had two cases open with bail conditions in Manitowoc County and one in Kenosha County. The condition of each case included not committing any further crimes.
A twelve-hour OWI hold was also placed on the suspect. Charges are pending.
