The City of Sheboygan is slotted to receive $20,000 to help make the city more pet friendly.
Sheboygan is one of five cities selected by Mars Petcare to receive such funds, with the other four cities being Las Vegas Nevada, Dallas Texas, Key West Florida, and Oakland California.
The Pet-Friendly Task Force will be using the money to increase the outdoor recreation options for people and their pets and will add signage to all 36 parks in the city indicating if pets are or are not welcome.
The pet-friendly parks will also be outfitted with waste stations, and pet water fountains, while the City’s website will add more pet-related information.
There is also a 3.5-acre dog park in the works, which is being funded by the Humane Society of Sheboygan County, which the remaining funds support.
