A citizen and political rival of Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich has begun a recall effort.
David VanderLeest is the man behind the recall effort, as he claims the way Genrich handled the previous election was sub-par.
He said that only having two open polling locations caused three-hour waits and that the election had security issues.
VanderLeest is no stranger to recalls, as 11 years ago, he collected the signatures necessary to spark a recall election against Senator Dave Hansen.
The Democrat retained his seat in that case.
VanderLeest has also run against Genrich for a political seat but lost in the 2012 Assembly race, and in the 2015 race for Mayor.
Randy Scannell, a Green Bay alderperson, says that the recall is “petty and desperate”.
