The legendary Voice of the Brewers has survived a challenging off-season.
Bob Uecker was in the broadcast booth at American Family Fields of Phoenix Thursday afternoon.
He was all smiles, jokes, and laughter, probably seeing the baseball season as some kind of relief.
The off-season started with knee replacement surgery last October, then a visit to a dermatologist in January discovered two melanomas on his back.
While he was at the hospital he found out he needed treatment for COVID.
And, as if that wasn’t enough, his oldest child, Leeann Uecker, died of ALS on March 11th.
She was diagnosed three years ago and she became the second child Uecker has lost.
