The Chief Quality Officer at U.W. Health in Madison says it’s a good idea for people 50 and older to get a second booster shot now that the F.D.A. has authorized it.
Doctor Jeff Pothof says the risk of a patient getting really sick from COVID drops precipitously after getting the shot.
Pothof says if everyone does that it will help keep COVID infections down when a new strain appears.
That would mean public health officials won’t have to reimpose masking, social distancing, and other prevention measures people don’t like.
