Roncalli Middle School will be among the performers to accompany the Wisconsin Singers during their Sunday performance in Manitowoc at the Franciscan Music Center.
The Wisconsin Singers’ 54th season show, called Come Alive!, is a 90-minute review that celebrates the past five decades of American popular music. There will be a band of seven musicians accompanying sixteen performers who sing and dance.
Come Alive! will involve performances of over 40 songs, from artists such as Elvis Presley, the Four Seasons, Lady Gaga, Elton John and more.
Parker Von Haden is a trumpeter with the Wisconsin Singers band who spoke to Seehafer News about the upcoming performance in Manitowoc. He thinks the best way to refer to the show is as a variety show.
“If I had one word to sum it up, I’d call it a variety show. We do pretty much any genre you can think of – it’s most likely in our show! From pop songs, Broadway songs, a little bit of Disney in there, pretty much anything you can think of, we have it in there.”
Not only is the performance about a fun night of music, but a lucky group of singers from Roncalli Middle School will also be guest performers prior to the main performance. Not only do the kids get the opportunity to perform, but Von Haden says they will also be given a clinic from the Wisconsin Singers.
“In Manitowoc, what we’ll be doing is a dance workshop. We’ll be teaching them a portion of our show beforehand. That’s when we’ll do a Q&A with the students: teach them that music isn’t just something you do in middle school and high school, it’s something that you take on beyond that.”
