Planning has been approved for a new Engineering building on the UW Madison campus. Governor Tony Evers on Friday signed a bill allocating $1 million from the state building trust fund to conduct planning and design work on a replacement for the current 82-year-old building.
Total costs are estimated at $300 million.
Some 7,000 engineering students apply to U-W each year, but the College of Engineering only has space and teaching resources to accept about one thousand applicants annually.
The new building would allow for an additional 1,000 students.
