The Manitowoc County SWAT team was called into action over the weekend.
According to a report from the Manitowoc Police Department, officers were dispatched to a home in the 1300 block of South 12th Street just after 7:00 p.m. Sunday to perform a welfare check.
A citizen reported receiving a text from a resident there that simply said “Help!!!!!!” and could not make contact with the woman after.
When officers arrived, the woman could be heard saying stop, before announcing that she was exiting the residence.
She told the police that 48-year-old her boyfriend had hit her, which is why she was covered with blood.
She allowed the officers to use her phone to call the man, who was known to still be in the residence, but he claimed he was on a bus headed to Cleveland.
The County SWAT team was called in to enter the residence and arrest the man.
He was charged with Battery and Disorderly Conduct, each with Domestic Violence Enhancers, as well as Obstructing an Officer and one count of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
