
The leader of Roncalli High School’s state champion boys basketball squad has been voted to the Division 4 All-State Team by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association.
6’4″ senior Luke Pautz was the catalyst for the Jets’ run to the state title on Saturday. The four-year varsity player scored 1,517 career points and went off for 56 points in a sectional semifinal victory over Saint Mary Catholic.
Pautz won Player of the Year honors in the EWC as a junior and senior.
Luke averaged 25.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.5 steals per game this season while leading Roncalli to a 26-3 record.
Joining Pautz on the WBCA All-State team, announced this morning, is Miles Barnstable of Howards Grove and Casey Verhagen of Sheboygan Lutheran.
Verhagen, a 6’1″ guard for the Crusaders and an NCAA Division-2 recruit for Northern Michigan, led the team to a 25-2 record by averaging over 26 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6 assists and nearly 3 steals per game. Casey finished his four years of high school basketball with 2,265 points.
Barnstable, another 6’1″ guard was named Player of the Year in the Big East Conference averaging more than 26 points, almost 8 rebounds, nearly 3.5 assists and 2.5 per outing for the Tigers.
Miles, who was a transfer from Sheboygan Lutheran following his sophomore year, helped lead Howards Grove to a 23-5 record.
