A throng of students walked out of class at La Follette High School in Madison Wednesday afternoon to protest the removal of a staff member.
School officials wouldn’t discuss what is happening with the person students call Coach Assad but they say they plan to address the concerns that have been raised.
Assad reportedly led conversations about mental health and created community spaces for students from under-represented backgrounds.
The students say they are worried emotional and academic support will be diminished if Coach Assad is gone.
