After a week of conducting meetings in a virtual setting the Manitowoc Public School District has decided to go back to its in-person format.
The decision to go virtual was made after several board members reported getting threatening messages, and members of the public were acting out at the Board meetings.
The most high-profile situation came during a meeting in February when a man approached the stage.
As opposed to how it was initially reported by other news outlets, the man simply walked up to the stage to give the board some paperwork without asking permission, however, the situation scared some board members.
Some members of the board suggested that a police officer be present at the meetings, but that option was shot down.
The next board meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday (March 21st) and members of the public will be allowed to be there in person, although there will not be a public comment session, as is the case at the second meeting of every month.
