UW Extension has begun offering mental health help for members of Wisconsin’s agriculture community.
Nearly one in five adults lives with a mental illness, and research shows that suicide rates are higher within the rural and agricultural communities.
In response, UW Extension has begun holding virtual Mental Health First Aid sessions to help those in the ag industry that may be struggling.
Just as CPR teaches you how to help someone having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid covers how to help someone experiencing mental health challenges including, but not limited to, depression and anxiety symptoms, panic attacks, and substance misuse, as well as someone thinking about suicide.
The next session will be held on April 12th from 9:00 to 3:30 p.m.
Pre-registration and approximately two hours of self-paced, online pre-work is required to participate.
