A Columbia County jury has found a 48-year-old woman not guilty for picking up two prison escapees.
Katherine Wooderick had been charged with two counts of escape as a party to a crime.
Jury members took less than an hour to deliberate Thursday.
Authorities accused her of picking up Thomas Deering and James Newman in Poynette shortly after they had escaped from the maximum-security Columbia Correctional Institute in April 2020.
Another woman who helped the escapees was sentenced to three years’ probation.
She told the court she did it because she and her daughter were threatened.
