The ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine has captured the world’s attention, but more specifically, folks on the Lakeshore have been asking: ‘What can we do to help Ukrainians?’
There’s an opportunity to help and the deadline to contribute items is this Saturday.
Stanislava Varshavski, a Manitowoc County resident who was born in Ukraine, spoke to Seehafer News on Thursday about an effort the Holy Family Conservatory of Music is undertaking this weekend to help get direct aid of medical goods to Ukraine.
“There is one organization that collections donations, medical donations at this point. They will send all contributions on March 14 to Chicago. From Chicago, it will go to Poland.” She added, “We have already placed a box at Holy Family Conservatory of Music.”
She says that they need your help to provide the medical goods to Ukrainians who would otherwise go without.
Even money that is donated goes towards purchasing the essential medical items that can no longer be purchased in Ukraine as stores and markets have closed:
“They collect money not for sending to Ukraine, but for sending the goods to Ukraine because right now, no one can buy anything in Ukraine. Right now, they need real items…it’s medical items, for now.”
Items must be dropped off by Saturday. They will be accepted at the Holy Family Conservatory of Music on 6751 Calumet Ave.
Varshavski noted that a full list of 31 needed items can be found on the conservatory’s Facebook page at Facebook.com/HFCManitowoc.
She ended the conversation with one final plea.
“Please consider donating. Everything helps. Thank you, so much.”
