On the day he was announced as the Big Ten Conference Player of the Year, Badgers guard Johnny Davis told reporters he believes he will be ready to play Friday.
That’s when his Wisconsin team will be hitting the court for the first time in the conference tournament.
Davis says he left the Nebraska game with a right ankle injury Sunday.
He says he had tweaked the injury before the Purdue game.
Davis says there’s a lot of time left until the tournament and he thinks he “should be ready to go.”
Davis has also been named a first-team All-American by the Sporting News.
The former standout at La Crosse Central High School led his team in scoring at 20-points a game, rebounding at 8.1, and free throws made with 136.
Davis is joined on the first team by Ochai Agbaji of Kansas, Keegan Murray of Iowa, Kofi Cockburn of Illinois, and Oscar Tshiebwe of Kentucky.
Three of the five first-teamers play for Big Ten schools.
