A former Manitowoc man died as the result of a snowmobile crash over the weekend in Vilas County.
48-year old Stephan Nickels of Madison passed away Saturday in Boulder Junction from injuries suffered in the crash. His online obituary stated that alcohol or other drugs did not play a role in his death.
Nickels grew up in Manitowoc and graduated from Lincoln High School. He had been employed as an attorney with Foley and Lardner and was a mentor to many of his co-workers.
Funeral services will be held next Monday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Madison.
