
Thermal Drone Helps Police Arrest Men After High-Speed Chase
A high-speed chase on Interstate 41 through Winnebago County a Fond du Lac County on Friday ended with the arrest of two Green Bay men.
Reports of a vehicle driving erratic led to Winnebago County deputies attempting to catch a vehicle traveling south on Interstate 41.
Fond du Lac County was alerted to the vehicle, with officials noting that the vehicle was seen traveling at a dangerous speed, weaving in and out of traffic, even passing vehicles using the median shoulder.
After being followed by deputies, the suspects exited their vehicle before heading into the Eldorado Marsh.
The department’s drone team was utilized, and the thermal drone they utilized picked up on the suspects’ heat signatures. That information allowed for a quick discovery of the suspects.
The 20-year-old driver was arrested for eluding police, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, felony bail jumping, resisting and obstruction, as well as possession of THC.
The 21-year-old passenger also faces charges for resisting arrest, being a party to the crimes of fleeing and recklessly endangering safety.
