A driver has told the court he “hit panic mode” after injuring a pedestrian in a hit-and-run crash last month.
Forty-two-year-old Nikki Houghton died of the injuries she suffered after at least two vehicles hit her. Mario Hernandez is facing a charge of hit-and-run involving death and knowingly operating a vehicle while revoked and causing death.
Hernandez made his first court appearance in Milwaukee County Wednesday. Surveillance video showed the impact. Houghton lay in the road after she was hit and at least one more car rolled over her.
