Seehafer News has learned of a new shipping and distribution facility to be built in Manitowoc.
Setzer Properties has filed an application for a permit with the US Army Corps of engineers to use fill dirt on 1.43 acres of land classified as wetland. Setzer Properties specializes in building distribution centers for FedEx and XPO Logistics.

This proposed building site is on property located on a farm field at the corner of South 42nd Street and Viebahn Street in Manitowoc. According to architectural drawings, the main building would be 218,000 square feet and designed to accommodate a conveyor system. Related construction would include an employee parking lot, truck and trailer parking, loading docks, a maintenance building, and stormwater management facilities.
In addition to the shipping and distribution center, 39th Street would be extended south to Viebahn Steet and used as the main access to this shipping and distribution center.
In the permit application submitted to the Army Corps of Engineers, there were no federally listed threatened or endangered wildlife or plants or their critical habitat identified.
The decision of whether to issue a permit will be based on an evaluation of the probable impact of the proposed activity on the public.
