Attorneys for Brendan Dassey’s uncle are asking Gov. Evers to commute his life sentence.
Dean Strang and Jerome Buting wrote the open letter Wednesday.
Dassey was found guilty of helping Steven Avery kill Teresa Halbach over 16 years ago. He was 15 years old at the time.
The in-custody interview that led to the teenager’s confession has been at the center of several legal challenges.
The lawyers say the courts failed and executive clemency exists to correct injustice when the courts won’t or can’t.
