The superintendent of the Suring Public School District has been charged with six felony counts of false imprisonment.
The charges against Kelly Casper are based on the searches of six students who were told to strip down to their underwear during a search for vape cartridges.
District Attorney Edward Burke Junior had initially declined to file charges saying the actions didn’t meet the legal definition of a “strip search.”
Burke says the superintendent stood in the doorway after telling the students to remove their clothing.
If convicted, Casper could get up to six years in prison on each charge.
