Manitowoc Lincoln High School honored five members of the Ships varsity basketball team in pre-game ceremonies on Senior Night and then went out and dominated Green Bay Preble 59-to-38 at the JFK Fieldhouse.
One of those 5-seniors, Matus Dopirak, poured in a game-high 21-points and grabbed 8-rebounds as Lincoln jumped out to a 10-nothing advantage and never-looked-back. C
oach Thadd Cornell’s ballclub shot 55-percent from the field and hounded the Hornets into 17-turnovers.
Reserve Sheldon Jean-Baptiste scored 10 points for the Green Bay school, which ends the regular season 7-and-17, 6-and-12 in the FRCC.
The Ships improve to 11-and-12 overall, 9-and-9 in conference.
Lincoln has one more game left before the tournament and that’s a makeup game with Hortonville Monday night at the JFK, with a varsity-only contest starting at 6:00 p.m.
Prior to last night’s game, Jean-Marie and Leroy Stahl were honored for multiple decades of special support to Lincoln basketball teams.
And, soloist Jean-Marie sang the national anthem, appropriately surrounded by seniors Gage Cornell, Matus Dopirak, Spencer Wigand, Marlon Stewart, and Ashton Portmann.
