One person has been declared dead following a fire at an iconic bar in Sturgeon Bay.
Butch’s Bar at 112 South 3rd Avenue caught fire early yesterday morning, and officials found the body in the rubble last evening.
It took hours for police and fire crews to locate the individuals who lived above the bar, and one person remains unaccounted for.
The identity of the deceased individual has not been released as of yet.
Crews have been hampered in their search of the structure as the integrity of the building’s structure has been deemed as compromised.
They were also battling the cold weather and slippery road conditions on top of the flames and hot spots that remained for a while throughout the day.
Local investigators are being aided by the D.O.J.’s Division of Criminal Investigation.
