The three Ascension hospitals in southeastern Wisconsin are reporting a spike in weather-related injuries coming into their emergency rooms.
A spokesperson says 42 patients were treated by 1:00 p.m. Tuesday and by 4:00 p.m. the number was 61.
That is almost triple the usual number seen on a typical winter day.
Some injuries were caused by falls and a few were serious enough they required surgery.
Several of the injuries were caused by traffic accidents.
