Marquette’s Kam Jones hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer but that only made the final score closer in an 83-82 loss at Creighton Sunday.
Darryl Morsell led Marquette with 23 points and Jones scored 18.
The two teams are going in different directions with the Golden Eagles losing for the fourth time in six games and the Bluejays running their winning streak to five in a row.
If the troubles for the Golden Eagles continue they could go through their third straight late-season collapse – despite a switch in head coaches.
Coach Shaka Smart’s squad is idle until a Saturday home game against Butler at noon.
