The lakeshore area and Manitowoc County will be well-represented at this weekend’s WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament in the Kohl Center.
In Division-1, Manitowoc Lincoln’s Gryffin Jonas pinned his way to a Sectional crown at 285, winning all 3 of his matches by fall at Oshkosh North.
Failing to qualify for the Ships but placing 4th at his weight was Kaeden Niemojuski.
In the Division-2 Sectional at Oconto Falls, a pair of Two Rivers Raiders qualified for state with runner-up finishes, Klinkner at 170 and Matthias at 195.
Three Brillion Lions took first, Huntley at 113, Stebane at 152 and Kilgas at 195.
In the Sectional at Waupun, Kiel had 4 qualifiers in Dessellier at 126, Sippel at 138, Faust 152 and Kienbaum at 182.
And, in the Division-3 Sectional at Dodgeland, the team standings showed Reedsville 2nd to champion Random Lake, Valders 6th, and Mishicot 11th. There were 3
Sectional champs from local wrestlers, Ulness of Valders at 120, Cracraft of Mishicot at 170 and Ebert of Reedsville at 220.
Placing 2nd and advancing to the state meet are Wendling of Valders at 106, Schmalz of Reedsville at 120, Sebo and Delsman from the Panthers at 126 and 145, Zutz of Valders at 160, and Wagner of Reedsville at 285 along with additional qualifier Christel of the Panthers at 132.
