Madison’s new Center for Black Excellence and Culture is getting a boost from one-million dollars in donations.
The Center is in the middle of a $36 million capital campaign that has received donations from more than 300 people. Center founder and C.E.O. Alex Gee says the speed and scale of the rally of support is a demonstration of the impact the facility will have on southern Wisconsin.
New Markets Tax Credits could produce an additional $6 million of funding. The Center is scheduled to open next year.
