
The importance of agricultural education is celebrated every day through organizations like FFA, but starting today, National FFA Week offers a special time to acknowledge the group and its significance.
The letters FFA stand for “Future Famers of America,” but the organization’s aim is to reflect all opportunities in the growing industry of agriculture. Their own website states that not only do they encourage members to become future farmers, they also support paths for future chemists, veterinarians, government officials, entrepreneurs, bankers, business leaders, teachers and more fields in the growing agriculture industry.
Members are invited to join State Officer Sydney Baker virtually on Monday to bake a celebratory cake. Simply click a Zoom link, have some cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs, cupcake liners, a cupcake pan, white frosting, and some blue and yellow food coloring.
There’s a trivia contest on Tuesday where FFA members can face off against one another, and on Thursday, even a game night for members. Again, these statewide events will take place virtually via Zoom.
Two especially significant parts of FFA Week will be Give FFA Day on Thursday where members will be encouraging donations to the organization. Also, all week, expect to see community service activities as members will be pledging to serve the community.
