The man accused of shooting and killing another man at the Fox River Mall is now without an attorney.
18-year-old Dezman Ellis wrote a letter last week to the judge presiding over his case, claiming he had ineffective counsel after he was sentenced to spend 40 years in prison.
Ellis claimed that his lawyer, Scott Ceman, told him that he would only be sentenced to 15 years and that he feels cheated.
In response, Ceman has filed a motion to withdraw as Ellis’ attorney citing an “irreparable breakdown” in the attorney-client relationship. That request has been granted.
