While heart-shaped balloons are a normal gift on Valentine’s Day, Wisconsin Public Service warns that if you aren’t careful, they could cause some issues.
WPS reports that last year, 11,000 minutes of power were lost due to balloons coming in contact with powerlines and other equipment.
They explained that if the Mylar balloons touch the power lines, they will cause a short circuit, and could even cause the power lines to fall to the ground, which would be an even more dangerous situation.
WPS suggests you skip the balloons, and instead do some other romantic activities with your significant other.
