JoAnn Schisel, age 86, a Manitowoc resident, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022 at Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on April 17, 1935 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Edward and Clara (Dickert) Swetlik. JoAnn graduated from Mishicot High School. On September 14, 1954, she married Robert C. Schisel at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on February 1, 2014. JoAnn was a wonderful mother and in her young adult years, was also a caregiver to her father who was suffering from MS. She was employed at Mirro Aluminum for most of her career, as well as Foster Needle for a short time. In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening, puzzles and word search. JoAnn also spoke fondly of her memories of dancing with her husband at dance halls. She loved shopping and going to lunch with family, especially her daughter and her mom when she was still living.
JoAnn is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: William and Niccole Schisel, Manitowoc, and Timothy and Annette Schisel, Manitowoc, two daughters and sons-in-law: Doris and Boyd Philippi Jr., Manitowoc, and Marlene and Jerry Mrotek, Cleveland; ten grandchildren: Daphne, Ryan, Dustin, Tyson, Dawn, Eric, Patricia, Todd, Tyler, and Austin; many great-grandchildren; one sister: Delores Jorgensen, Oconto Falls; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Kenneth and Sandra Schisel, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Clara Swetlik; her husband Robert; her daughter: Linda; a grandson: Channing; brother-in-law: Allen Jorgensen; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Clarence and Helen Schisel; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Melvin and Lyndoris Schisel; and Jeanette and Donald Becker; as well as other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Noon on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 South 14th Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. David Beaudry. The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. Please practice social distancing and wear a mask regardless of vaccination status.
Per JoAnn’s wishes, cremation will occur following the service and JoAnn’s cremated remains will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery, Alverno, on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.
