A Facebook posting shows former Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett taking over as the U-S Ambassador to Luxembourg Thursday.
A statement from Barrett says he has already experienced the strong relationship between the U-S and Luxembourg while serving in Wisconsin.
Barrett was Milwaukee’s mayor for 18 years before he accepted the new position.
A special primary election will be held on February 15th, then voters will choose his successor in the general election on April 5th.
