Following a successful public fundraising effort, the Above and Beyond Children’s Museum has announced that their Purple Octopus Playground will be opening up this summer.
The all-abilities playground is the first ADA-accessible public outdoor playground in Sheboygan.
The underwater-themed playspace was designed by MONSTRUM, an internationally acclaimed playground company based in Norway, and will include a wheelchair transfer platform, ground-level accessible equipment, and a nest swing set.
The playground will be completed in two phases.
The next playground milestone will be in Spring 2022 as the playground equipment is installed in the shadow of the museum’s mural known as The Happiness Project.
