It was some ugly basketball, but in the end, it was a 51-49 victory for the Badgers.
Neither team could hit a shot in the first half and the visiting Penn State Nittany Lions had only three points after the first 13 minutes.
Center Steven Crowl stepped up while normal team leaders Johnny Davis and Brad Davison were having off nights.
Crowl scored 13 points and dished out five assists – most of them to Tyler Wahl as he was breaking to the basket.
Wahl’s layup with 30 seconds left provided the winning margin.
It was the 21st straight home victory for Wisconsin against Penn State.
The Badgers play at Michigan State Tuesday.
