A local State Senator has joined forces with three other legislators in the introduction of a bill that aims to protect healthcare workers.
Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu of Oostburg is circulating the bill alongside fellow Republicans Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, and Senator Van Wanggaard, as well as Democratic Representative Gae Magnafici.
The group says that the bill looks to protect frontline healthcare workers from battery and threats of violence.
In a joint statement, the legislators said, “We’re putting forward legislation to protect the frontlines of healthcare and send the clear message that threatening a healthcare worker with violence is not acceptable and will be treated as a serious offense.”
