The Dane County Sheriff’s Office says shots were fired Thursday morning as state and local law enforcement officers tried to arrest an individual.
The incident happened shortly before 8:30 a-m.
It isn’t clear who fired the shot but Madison police say it wasn’t one of its officers.
No names have been released.
The suspect was injured and taken to a Madison hospital.
Authorities haven’t released the reason for taking that person into custody on the city’s east side.
