Two area farmer groups are among 36 different organizations throughout the state who are slotted to receive a portion of $1 million in Watershed Protection Grants.
The Calumet County AG Stewardship Alliance is getting just shy of $23,000, while the Sheboygan River Progressive Farmers is getting just over $29,000.
This is the seventh round of grant awards since funding was first made available in the 2015-17 state budget.
Producer-Led Watershed Protection Grants give financial support to farmers willing to lead conservation efforts in their own watersheds.
Groups must partner with a county land conservation department, UW-Extension, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, or another nonprofit conservation organization on their projects.
